The first call for proposals within the new Erasmus + programme has recently been published. The programme will have a budget of €14.7 billion for the period 2014-2020, representing a 40% increase. It combines seven EU education, training and youth programmes and provides support to sport for the first time.

Higher education

Although the Erasmus+ programme has not yet been adopted by the European legislative authority, the Commission has decided to publish the call for proposals in order to further enable potential beneficiaries to prepare their applications.

The call for proposal is structured into three key actions:

  • Key Action 1: Mobility of individuals” supports the mobility of students and staff, joint Master’s programmes as well as a Master’s student loan guarantee, which is expected to be in place by September 2014;
  • Key Action 2: Cooperation for innovation and exchange of good practices” supports strategic partnerships, knowledge alliances, sector skills alliances and capacity building in the field of youth;
  • Key Action 3: Support for policy reforms” are transnational, structured projects fostering innovation, notably between higher education and business and are open to any discipline or sector or to cross-sectorial cooperation.

In addition, sports and Jean Monnet Activities are also supported.
