Luxembourg’s streets pounded by uni.lu charity marathon runners

Saturday 31 May 2014 saw thousands take to the streets of Luxembourg for the Luxembourg ING Marathon 2014. Among the participants were about 100 representatives of the University of Luxembourg – professors and students alike – who pounded the streets together for a fantastic cause. Huge congratulations go to all who took part in order to raise funds for the Luxembourg children’s cancer charity Kriibskrank Kanner. Even if today you have blisters and ache in parts of the body that you did not even know existed before, you can be proud of your efforts. The Kriibskrank Kanner was founded on 24 February 2000 by an association of concerned parents and friends and aims to provide practical and psychological support to children, and the families of children, who have cancer. The Charity’s motto is “Being together, not standing alone” and it aims to be “A heart for children with cancer in Luxembourg”. Above all, Kriibskrank Kanner offers “…an open door, a bright smile and a hand extended in comfort and understanding” at a very difficult time. Participation of the uni.lu team was organised by Elise Poillot, Professor of Civil Law at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance who said, “We were proud to run on behalf of children in Luxembourg who have cancer.” Feedback from the professors and students who took part was also positive, each group proud to have given back to the Luxembourg community, as well as achieved personal goals. Feel free to make a donation! |
